14A – Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?

- First of all, the "Tool Pages" is the most important part for me because it contains everything you need for this course. Moreover, checking the videos everyweek is also important. I always pre-read each assignment and give myself 3 days to think about it so that I have enough time to finish it.

2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?

- I felt like "giving up" when I do the "elevator pitch" because I am really not good at speech. I thought that I may still get A even I don't do this assignment. I finally did the pitch because I want to challenge myself and to improve my speech. So I definitely develop more or less a tenacious attitude during past two months.

3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?

- 1. Always plan ahead
2. Think deeply for each assignment (useful for your future)
3. Enjoy each opportunity to practice

  1. Aobo,

I think you bring up many good points on how to develop tenacity. I especially liked how you said enjoy each opportunity to practice. Of course, the more you practice the better you will become, and tenacity will follow. I also think that you brought up a good point when you used the elevator pitch as a way to challenge yourself. I think a lot of people never leave their comfort zone, but in reality, that is one of the best ways to grow as a person.

  2. Hey Aobo!

Great post and I agree with many of the points that you made about how to be successful in this class. At times the class is challenging and I am glad to hear that you pushed yourself to do the elevator pitch. I also feel that it is important to not get behind in this class, because if you do the class then becomes very stressful.

  3. Hey! The elevator pitch was a hard assignment for me to complete as well! It can be tough having to make a speech, memorize it, and then perform it to a camera. I ended up doing the assignment as well even though I didn't want to because I knew that it would end up helping me out in the long run.
